Through the mind we register understanding, thoughts, feelings, perceptions, judgments, determinations and the perfect will of Christ. The mind of the natural man is corrupted through sin, but when a man is led of the Spirit to repent and accepts the gospel of Jesus Christ the mind begins renewal because of a union with and occupancy by the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Scripture tells us ‘we have the mind of Christ’, it does not say we ‘will have it’ or we ‘shall have it’, but it says “we have the mind of Christ” which means we have it now! This is exactly the same as His Holy presence indwells us now! Thus we should walk, talk, think and do everything as Christ did, is doing now and will do in ever increasing power with His approaching return. We should be perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect for having the mind of Christ means that a perfect sinless way of thinking and living is possible and available to us right now. It means that we can walk fully in the light of God with all the glorious discernment of God available to us in every moment and circumstance He walks us through.
Having the mind of Christ literally means the ability to read the minds and know the thoughts, intentions and motives of others as shown us. “And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, why reason ye these things in your hearts?” (Mark 2:8) “And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him.” (Luke 9:47)
Having the mind of Christ makes one super sensitive to the presence of faith and it is faith that moves virtue through the vessels that we are. Virtue is defined as force or miraculous power in the Greek and it is faith that transfers this power to the ones needing it. Faith attracts the anointing or virtue of God. A good example is the woman with the issue of blood: “And Jesus said, somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.” (Luke 8:46) Discernment is truly functioning in the mind of Christ through the many different ways the Spirit manifests gifts and power through us. It is having oneness with the God that indwells us and it liberates us from the bondage of thinking with the sinful carnal mind of man.
Our Lord redeemed us with his precious blood at the Cross and gave us the instruction manual of the Bible to walk our Pathway of Salvation. Satan is ceaseless in his use of fallen angels and fallen man to rob us of our ‘heritage in Christ’ and to destroy the record of the Living Word. The time is now for you to eradicate this onslaught through fully using the ‘mind of Christ’ which you already have if you are truly ‘in Christ’! We shall be briefly examining some of the evidence surrounding this state of our Spiritual being indwelt by the Living God and our indwelling Him.
The Repentant Thief
The mind of Christ knows that Scripture inspired of God does not contradict itself in any manner. There were two thieves that hung on crosses with Jesus but our focus is going toward the one single needy sinner that repented during fulfillment of the prophecy that our Lord “was numbered with the transgressors” (Isaiah 53:12).
The one malefactor railed on Jesus as he raved, gnashed his teeth, cursed, spat and blasphemed. Being a rogue at heart the torture of crucifixion fully released the absolute insanity that he displayed. He joined in venomous mockery with the scribes and chief priests as they taunted that Jesus could save others but not himself. The Satanic taunt of “If thou be the Son of God” when the devil tried to tempt Jesus after his desert fast once again filled the air and the maddened thief joined the chorus. (Matthew 4:36, 27:40 ; Luke 4:3,9; 23:39) “And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.” The big IF of unbelief about Jesus or attempt to manipulate scripture for one’s own design was as ludicrous at that time as it is today. There is no IF about the one who raised the widow’s son or Lazarus from the grave. It is possible that at least one person he had raised from the dead was watching him willingly going to his own. It is pure enmity of the natural heart against the Laws and Works of God that raises such cries and scoffing against Jesus. “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” (Romans 8:7-8) The scoffer never realizes the importance of a commitment, prayer, fasting and the precepts of holiness. Such a one cannot grasp intended separation from the world, nor how to fully overcome the lusts of the flesh and is always looking for just one more loop-hole to justify their own unbelief and sins. Continue to scoff about Jesus and you will join the unrepentant thief in the eternal torment of the lake of fire.
It seems likely that he had known of the life of Jesus for when the other thief was casting abuse at Jesus, this fellow tried to restrain him and told him that, although they were receiving the just reward of their misdeeds Jesus had done nothing amiss. (Luke 23:41KJV) He was an evil man but he displayed fear of God and that was the beginning of his repentance. There is conjecture about this thief, that he was a member of the band of Barabbas and thus knew of Jesus Christ.
At first this man had treated Jesus just like everyone else, but the longer he hung on that cross next to the Lord the more he witnessed and it obviously changed his heart and mind. As Christ endured so much pain and cruelty he continued to display supernatural strength, peace, love and concern for his tormentors when he spoke: “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34) In spite of the insults, wounds and his torn flesh he looked to the needs of his mother by turning her to the loving care of his disciple John. (John 19:25-27) Right to His dying breath all events that transpired revealed the glory of the Son of God. It was all of this that broke through the heart and mind of the thief and we hear him say “unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:42-43) Our God can always overpower unbelief with wrath, but He will just as quickly overpower sin with a display of His mercy.
A Claimed Contradiction
Our repentant thief rebukes the other, acknowledges that they were receiving their just rewards and clearly recognizes Jesus as Messiah: “And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comes into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:41-43 KJV)
Jesus’ response in this scripture appears to indicate that He and the repentant thief would meet together in paradise on that very same day but the evidence from scripture shows this is not so. Three days after going to the grave when speaking to Mary Magdalene at the garden tomb: “Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.” (John 20:15-18) So three days after it appears Jesus had declared to the thief on the cross he would be in paradise with him the very same day, he clearly was not. Knowing the Lord cannot lie it is self-evident that somehow men have misconstrued or misinterpreted this scripture. Satan loves such matters as this for now the ‘ifs of carnal minds’ can cast all manner of aspersions about the Truth of the Bible and the Son of the Living God.
The Punctuation Matter
Knowing that all scripture harmonizes, one group of Christian advocates has stated that it has been simple misplacement of punctuation by man that has created the misconstruing. They claim the comma punctuation placed behind the word today (I say unto you today, ) should have been placed behind the word you thus making Luke 23:43 read “And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee today, shalt thou be with me in paradise.” Thus, relocation of a comma makes Jesus promise to the thief not that he would be in paradise that very day, but only that he would be there with him in the future and so the scripture harmonizes with the fullness of Biblical account. In truth it does, but the comma placement is somewhat a smokescreen to lead one to a point of self-justifying doubt of the Word of God and acceptance of the methods of man. All scripture was given by inspiration of God, but this does not mean that when translating man added further divisions into chapters, verses and used punctuation marks to attempt to make reading the Bible easier that they did so under the inspiration of God. God does not need man’s help in rightly dividing the Word; mankind needs His! When encountering such an issue as this punctuation matter the mind of Christ will automatically lead you to determine why any format of deception has been permitted entry. You know fully “not to be conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2) You automatically know that you are required to prove what is correct as part of the transforming of your mind to coming to absolute faith in the Scripture that we have the mind of Christ.
The natural break in speech cadence of the original Greek gives pause that harmonizes Luke 23:43. The Word of God never contradicts itself without the assistance of Satan or man!
The mind of Christ knows that God’s word will never deny His Holiness. The proof that we are looking for as to which Bible contains corrupted word of God is not a complicated one. One scriptural comparison will show you that in versions other than the Authorized King James Version there is corruption of the scripture that denies the essential Holiness of the nature of God and steals the identity of Christ through the removal of the ‘name above all names’. Compare these four scripture versions of Philippians 4:13 following.
1. The Authorized King James Version: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me.”
2. The New International Version: “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”
3. The New American Standard Bible: “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
4. The New Living Translation: “For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need.”
In the KJV we see that the ‘things done through Christ’ must strengthen one; in other words build one up, cleanse them and purify them, thus bringing glory unto God. No evil actions do this and yet the other three versions state that they can do everything through him who gives them strength. This everything means that one can rape, rob, murder and commit mayhem with the same degree of success as blessing, healing or carrying out acts of righteousness; in essence, one can perform all actions whether good or evil through ‘him’. This is preposterous and denies the essential nature of our Christ. Further, we see two versions (NIV, NASB) remove the reference to Christ and substitute a non-descriptive him. Now, this ‘him’ they refer to cannot be Jesus because you cannot do anything evil through Christ. Through Jesus you can only carry out acts of righteousness that strengthen you. Our example should be enough to show you the leaven in these versions other than the KJV is sufficient evidence to get you to toss aside the leavened lump you may be so fond of.
The mind of Christ never denies the indwelling presence of God is here now in the flesh of His disciples.
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: and every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” (1John 4:1-4)
The confession ‘Jesus Christ is come in the flesh’ is the proof immediate and absolute of who belongs to Christ and who is under the dominion of Satan. It involves no waiting and entails simply asking: ‘how is Jesus Christ come to this earth?’ One need only demand the person being addressed be able to state: Jesus Christ is come in the flesh! Scripture tells us simply and clearly that those indwelt by the anti-Christ spirit cannot say ‘Jesus Christ is come in the flesh’! It is this simple and the confession is so necessary to our defense against deception that Satan has succeeded in removing it from many distorted versions of the Bible. Such removal is his blatant attempt to rob the followers of Christ of their weaponry of defense and thus their heritage in Jesus Christ!
Importance of the Tense
We shall now look at the importance of the tense used in the confession ‘is come in the flesh’ through examination of the scripture of concern in four of the most popular Bibles.
1. The Authorized King James Bible
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” (1John. 4:1-4)
In this Bible version we see the statement “is come in the flesh” is written in the present tense but it is inclusive of past and future, as was the statement of Jesus when he said to unbelieving Jews: “Before Abraham was, I am.” (John 8:58) Our statement speaks to the present full indwelling of the disciple by the Lord Jesus Christ and the knowledge of both ‘being in Christ and Christ being in us’. To say that Jesus Christ ‘has come in the flesh’ is something that Satan, his demons and the antichrists will attest to for it simply acknowledges that he walked upon this earth in the past tense! To say ‘Jesus Christ is come in the flesh’ acknowledges that He is present now both in Spirit and in His followers, that He triumphed at the Cross, that they could not succeed in killing Jesus and that they are our defeated foes! It clearly acknowledges that we who are in Christ in this flesh have authority and power over them and that they must obey! It states that when they are facing us they are facing Christ that indwells us and that they must submit or flee. The pride of Satan does not allow the acknowledgement of such defeat even when he knows the reality of it. He cannot stand the light of the Truth, for being the ‘lord of all deception’ he is the one standing in its greatest darkness, still hopelessly attempting to usurp the position of God.
2. The New International Version
“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”
In this satanically distorted version of God’s word we see the change of scripture to a statement that places our Christ’s presence to the past tense only. This robs us both of His omnipresence and indwelling presence of His full power to defeat our satanic foes if we walk in this word. This word is a lie. As well this version goes on in its attempt to deceive through the ‘acknowledging of Jesus’ for the Word tells us the devils know who Jesus is, so such acknowledgement means nothing as to absolute proof as to who is or is not of God. We see a continuance of deception as well by their removal of the fact that Jesus is ‘the Christ’. This same distortion of the word of God and removal of his indwelling presence shown in the New International Version is evidenced in like manner in both the New American Standard Bible and The New Living Translation quotations that follow.
3. The New American Standard Bible
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”
4. The New Living Translation
“Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world. This is the way to find out if they have the Spirit of God: if a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ became a human being, that person has the Spirit of God. If a prophet does not acknowledge Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist. You have heard that he is going to come into the world, and he is already here. But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won your fight with these false prophets, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.”
If you think that Satan has not gone all out in his attempts to rob us through removing the confession ‘is come in the flesh’ then you are in a state of deception! If you think too much is being made of the ‘language factor’ you are in an even stronger state of deception! If you are one of those who claim that the ‘old English’ of the Authorized King James Version is too difficult to understand you are truly unaware that your deception has increased. Why? Listen up for this matter is so important to Satan that he has managed even in the New King James Bible to achieve his pernicious ends. “Is come in the flesh” has disappeared and “has come” is now present in the New King James Bible! Why would there be a change from the Authorized King James Version to the New King James Version of such simple words? What is difficult to understand in the words is and has? Nothing, for they are not ‘olde English’ and ‘language factor’ may not be used as an excuse in any manner for your not facing up to this Truth. All of this is simply the ploy of our enemy and further proof of both the great importance of the “test” and the deception underway in Bibles that have been tampered with! This case of evil tampering is a matter of Satan placing ‘leaven’ within the modern versions of what is called God’s word and using such Bibles to further his work of dark deception. Tense has been clearly shown to be a matter of prime importance if you are truly to function in the power and grace of the mind of Christ!
Simplicity of the Gospel
“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:3)
“Common sense” application does not deny the mind of Christ or the inerrancy of Scripture. In Acts 19:11-12 we find another of man’s comma issues: “And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.”
Obviously we face another comma issue where moving the comma to follow the word sick clarifies a ludicrous statement that talks about something from Paul’s body being brought to sick handkerchiefs or aprons. The change makes a simple common sense statement of bringing handkerchiefs or aprons that Paul had used to the sick .We see the power of the Holy Spirit upon and exuding through him was so intense that these articles were able to enact the miraculous results recorded. There is no difference in this event then in the shadow of Peter enacting its miraculous results as recorded. The simplicity of the Gospel is that anything that ridicules the Word or denigrates the Power of God in any manner has come into position through Satan’s use of man. If you need man’s commas to make sense of the Word of God then you truly are not functioning with the mind of Christ and need to get on your face before the Lord if you truly believe yourself His disciple. Ours is a God of ‘perfect spiritual common sense’ if you have been ‘given the ears to hear’.
Every word from The Cross is an endless source of wonderful lessons of Truth. For example, our time with the thieves has illuminated the simplicity of salvation. It certainly does not depend on the religious ceremonies and verbal formula statements required by many of the modern church adherents and evangelists. There was no time for any of this to take place for the thief and the man was saved simply by asking the Lord to save him. The degree or measure of the man’s sin did not affect the results of his recognition of Christ as Messiah. It is true the Holy Spirit must have prodded him toward this but he still had to clear the hurdle of choice through committing himself to the Lord and trusting Him to save him. He had no doubt that the kingdom of God lay beyond the grave for the followers of Christ. The absolute finality of choice faced both the thieves just as absolute choices of our life with Christ faces us each day. On which side of the line will you stand when God’s word places absolute choices with respect to His Holiness in front of you? Words of mockery always emit from men without desire to admit failure or have Christ deliver them from it. Words of praise always flow from the sons of God when He lays His chastising and cleansing hands upon them. Throughout such times God gives you the tools but it remains you that must pull down the barricades that block your mind and heart. With Christ at the door you must still answer His knock. Personally, my pride has embarrassed me, my ambitions have shamed me and my lack of self-discipline has been a source of humiliation. But due to the grace of God I have always come up repentant and hungry for change to His thoughts and not my own.
Presently in many areas of the world this is exacting description of the circumstance surrounding persecution: “And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.” (Luke 21:16)
We are told not to concern ourselves ahead of time, if we are to face this personally, that no one will be able to stand against what the Holy Spirit shall speak through us. “For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.” (Luke 21:15) To gainsay means to refute or deny and resist (G436) means to stand against, oppose or withstand. In other words, none shall be able to stand against what the Holy Spirit shall speak through you.
In overall context of his warning and encouragement the Lord states: “Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.” (Luke 21:10-16) If all ones adversaries cannot stand against what you say then it clearly means the ‘power of life and death is in your tongue’ and does not rest with them. So, who could be the some of you that shall be put to death? It clearly has to be those chosen to stand for Him through martyrdom because He is standing through it with them! There is no losing for the true followers of Christ in this circumstance for having the mind of Christ prepares you both to live and die for the Lord.
If I had to judge whether or not Christianity is true based upon the evidence displayed in modern churches as opposed to what I know the Bible states it is, I would find very little appealing in the displays of lack of faith. Most of you now reading will have cowered in fear and fled in terror at some point prior to what is being spoken to. The reason that many are called and few are chosen is that Christians are lazy and unwilling to sacrifice the time and effort it takes to get to know the God of the Bible. When people examine your life do they see any genuine willingness to sacrifice everything for what you say you believe is true? And, if you truly believed Jesus is coming back soon why do you run from leading a Holy life of separation from the world? And please tell me why would you fear the barking of Islamic dogs and the grunting of unrighteous secular pigs if you truly have the mind of Christ? The Lord has spoken to “be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.” (Revelation 3:2-3) Therefore, “examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates” and truly do not have the mind of Christ! (2 Corinthians 13:5)
